Artist (recording & Live)
Mike Batt enjoys performing, live and on record - both as an artist (singer-songwriter) and as a conductor. His albums as a solo artist (five for Sony UK, one for Sony Germany and one for RCA Germany) have sold many hundreds of thousands of copies, in addition to other albums issued in his name, such as Caravans Official Sound Track, Philharmania and The Hunting Of The Snark . His involvement as lead singer of the Wombles skewed the perception of his solo output to an extent in the UK but outside the UK, (where the Wombles had not been big as a band), he was and is able to operate without the understandable image confusion presented by the “Womble” association.
Live, He has toured with his own band, performed on many TV shows as an artist, and conducted both pop/crossover and straight classical concerts.
The TV special, Zero Zero combines his personal performance with his artwork, animation and and design/direction work.
He has also performed as conductor with rock bands, beginning with conducting a brass section for the band FAMILY at the Royal Albert Hall in the late sixties, and more recently accompanying space rock band Hawkwind on tour with an orchestra in 2018.
